Dear Diary....

I just finished reading THE HEROIN DIARIES by Nikki Sixx.
Rockstar Moto rating: MUST READ!

I always thought Nikki Sixx was pretty intelligent and quite articulate, especially for a rockstar. He just oozes smartness and coolness at the same time. I finished the book in a weekend. There's something comforting about reading about someone else's misery-turned-redemption story. It takes you thru a year-in-the-life of Nikki when he was writing the Girls, Girls, Girls album and battling heroin addiction. The rock n roll aspect of it was just awesome. Total honesty, big names dropped left and right, in timeline you're familiar with (80's) and subject matter that rock mags of old only scratched the surface with makes this a must read. The diary format with present day commentary is great and the illustrations keeps things real interesting. It must be so liberating to release something so extremely personal. To top it off, proceeds from the book are going to charity! It's called "Running With the Night" thru Covenant House, in which Nikki was honored. Go to myspace.com/sixxam to donate - I did.

Without blowing the whole book here are some interesting tidbits that you have to read in the book in order to "get it":

**Vanity
**Bon Jovi and Whitesnake
**Hanoi Rocks
**Appetite for Destruction
**Richard Pryor
**Chicks equals what?
**Krell
**Sebastian Bach
**Nikki's Top Ten Bands...and Albums

On top of all that, he formed a band called Sixx:AM and released a soundtrack for the book. Can you say kick ass? The album has a lot of feeling behind it and you get so much more out of it if you read the book first. Fave songs include Accidents Can Happen (wah), Life is Beautiful and Pray for Me. Nikki's spoken words (from the book itself) in between simply rock. All together what an awesome project. Highly recommended. Here's the video for Accidents Can Happen:
